Our story
Our heritage began in the heartland of New Zealand’s past, with Richard Barton, who’s pioneering attitude to farming, investing and estate management established a legacy for generations to come.
Established as one of the earliest family partnerships in 1866 the Barton family entities have evolved over the generations with Barton & Co. becoming an independent firm, continuing it’s asset management and investment activities through a modern framework and structure.
Global vision, with pioneering spirit.
Our values stand the test of time.
Independent
We're strongly independent, taking an active approach towards our portfolio with careful and concentrated management solutions. We invest for the purpose of building long term wealth. We consider social responsibility for impact and these support our vision of putting family capital to work smarter.
Resourceful
Our management team have extensive experience in innovative industries and new methods for financial modelling. This allows us to leverage innovative approaches from one industry to another, informing new ways of growing our businesses and investments.
Considered
We look to invest sustainably and ethically, maintaining a consistent/sustainable model for multiple generational management. This commitment remains at the heart of our investment philosophy: transparency, active family shareholders, information on risks, protection of interests, honesty, and respect.
No investment choices should be taken lightly, not when successive generations will climb or fall with the passing of our decisions.
